Reserol is based on an innovative drug delivery platform enabling substances to be absorbed via the oral lining – Functional Film Technology™ (FFT). This technology has been developed in Sweden and the result of 10 years of research and development. Using FFT, compounds with limited and/or slow absorption can increase both the rate and amount of absorption via the fine blood vessels in the mouth. The film can be loaded with different substances. By loading the FFT with Resveratrol the absorption can be increased and thus the dose no longer needs to be large, as is the case with Resveratrol capsules.

Reserol is the only product available on the market using FFT combined with Resveratrol. The Reserol filmstrip looks like a small piece of paper that you attach to the inside of your cheek. The film, loaded with 20 mg Resveratrol per film, will dissolve slowly and completely over a few minutes. During that time Resveratrol will be absorbed by the oral lining and will be distributed directly to your bloodstream and on to your tissues.

FFT is protected by a number of global patents.

The idea of dispensing active compounds by using a film is not new. Available films are mostly ODF-films (Oral Dissolvable Films) with another mode of action than the Reserol product. ODFs dissolve in the mouth and are then swallowed for uptake in the gastrointestinal tract in the same way as a traditional tablet or capsule.

In many markets numerous food supplements containing Resveratrol can be found as tablets, capsules, juices, gels, etc. For all of these products the uptake occurs via the gastrointestinal tract, which also severely limits the absorption of Resveratrol. Resveratrol is highly metabolized in the gut and liver and largely eliminated in first-pass metabolism before it can reach any other tissues to act.
